Dear Friends,

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 9th. This year will be our daughter's first Mother's Day as a mother of a wonderful, charming, beautiful baby boy. This is my first Mother's Day as a grandmother!

Although the day has become commercialized, I believe that it is important to mark the day for some of the hardest working people in the world...mothers.

It is a reminder to say Thank You!

Some people think that if they are not the child, they need not acknowledge the mother in their life. That is not true. Even if you are the spouse or relative or friend of a special mother, it is your chance to celebrate that person. Don't forget to do some thing....little or big....a note, a rose, anything special...that says you appreciate their work and caring. I do not say this as the owner of a business. I say this as a Mother.

It is also a day when those of us who have lost our Mothers think about them, love them and miss them. We say Thank You in our hearts to our Mothers and Mother-in-laws and Grandmothers. Sometimes we do something in memory of them.

So, if you are a Mother, Grandmother or Honorary Mother, may I wish you a happy day and say "Thank You" — from all of us. You made us, our country and our world better since civilization began.
